Amanda lived on the Canoa Ranch for 13 years with her family.  Her father, Jesus Salcido, was a vaquero (ranch hand) on the ranch.  Several uncles and their families also lived and worked on the Canoa Ranch beginning in the 1920’s.

     Amanda received her Masters in Library Science (MLS) from the University of Arizona, worked for the Tucson-Pima Public Library for nearly 30 years in different capacities—reference librarian, manager of four libraries and participated in Spanish Services which developed cultural programming for the library system.
